KCC Manufacturing and Transaera Partner to Scale U.S. Production of High-Efficiency Cooling Systems

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 29, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- KCC Manufacturing and Transaera have partnered to scale the production of Transaera's high-efficiency cooling systems in the United States. The new collaboration will see Transaera's next-generation dedicated outdoor air platform manufactured domestically at KCC's facilities in Kentucky.
Transaera's technology uses Metal Organic Framework (MOF) materials to remove moisture before cooling, offering significant energy savings compared to conventional systems. According to Transaera, their platform can deliver a 40 percent energy savings compared to conventional packaged DX-only systems. This is particularly beneficial in commercial buildings where humidity is a significant factor, as it can reduce the need for overcooling and reheating, which is a common practice in conventional systems.
KCC Manufacturing, a 100 percent employee-owned company founded in March 1977 by current CEO Al Fiorini, will adapt its production dedicated outdoor air cabinet for the first-generation unit and co-develop the next-generation cabinet with Transaera's engineering team. KCC will also support the electronics implementation of Transaera's proprietary control sequences and provide systems integration to ensure the desiccant stage and refrigeration stage work seamlessly together.
Joel Strieter, President of KCC Manufacturing, emphasized the importance of turning a breakthrough into a commercially viable product.
The partnership is a significant step for Transaera, a technology company founded in 2017 by MIT engineers and materials scientists. The company has already shown its platform to deliver more than double the current federal minimum efficiency standard for moisture removal.
KCC Manufacturing's scope includes the equipment around the MOF core, adapting its production dedicated outdoor air cabinet for the first-generation unit and co-developing the next-generation cabinet with Transaera's engineering team. The arrangement allows Transaera to scale its technology without building its own cabinet fabrication and production capacity.
In May 2026, Transaera announced a multi-year collaboration with Amazon to expand the deployment of its high-efficiency heat pump technology following a six-month field trial at an Amazon logistics facility in hot, humid conditions. Warehouse and logistics space, along with commercial buildings in high-humidity climates, is precisely where latent load drives the mechanical design, and where the economics of removing moisture efficiently are most visible on a utility bill.
