K9 AdvantEDGE, a family-owned dog training company based in Romulus, Michigan, is celebrating a decade of service to Metro Detroit families. Founded in 2016 by husband-and-wife team Tyler and Esther Edge, the business has grown to serve a wide range of communities, including Brownstown, Downriver, and the greater Wayne County area. The company marks its 10th anniversary on October 11, 2026, in Romulus, Michigan.
K9 AdvantEDGE was established with a simple philosophy: training that holds up in real life. Their approach focuses on practical, real-world scenarios, such as door-bolting, leash pulling, and jumping, rather than quiet training rooms. Over the past decade, the company has worked with dogs and families across multiple communities, from first-time puppies to family dogs with challenging behaviors.
K9 AdvantEDGE's unique approach sets it apart from traditional obedience classes. The company offers no one-size-fits-all programs and avoids quick fixes. Every dog receives a personalized training plan based on its age, habits, and household. Owners are coached on what to practice after each session, emphasizing that lasting results come from the family, not just the trainer.
"We teach people, not just dogs," said Esther Edge, owner and trainer.
The business has expanded its offerings over the years. In addition to in-person lessons, K9 AdvantEDGE now provides puppy training, in-home training, immersive board and train programs, and online courses. These options cater to different needs and schedules, ensuring that dog owners can find the right training path for their pets.
As K9 AdvantEDGE enters its next decade, the Edges are inviting dog owners to start with a no-pressure conversation about their dog's age, behavior, daily routine, and goals. From there, the team recommends the training path that fits, including when a smaller program makes more sense than a bigger one.
