VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 16, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- K2 Gold Corporation has announced strong initial gold solubility results from its Dragonfly Zone at the Mojave Project in Inyo County, California. The company's latest drilling campaign, completed in 2026, has revealed a soluble-gold-to-fire-assay-gold ratio (AuCN/AuFA ratio) of 97.1% based on the sum of CN-soluble and fire-assay gold grades. This ratio, calculated from 211 mineralized samples from seven holes, indicates that a high proportion of the gold in the Dragonfly samples is readily soluble.
The company's 2020 results, which were conducted on 206 paired samples from nine holes covering Dragonfly and Newmont, returned an aggregate AuCN/AuFA ratio of 95.0%. These results are consistent with the extensive visual oxidation documented in K2’s drilling at both Dragonfly and Newmont. The company has also observed widespread deep oxidation profiles in all drilling completed to date, with visible oxidation within the gold-bearing structures tested to date.
Notable intervals from the 2026 drilling include 3.05 meters grading 17.55 grams per tonne (g/t) Au with a 97.0% AuCN/AuFA ratio and 18.29 meters grading 3.77 g/t Au with a 99.4% AuCN/AuFA ratio. These results are encouraging and support the potential for heap-leach processing of the mineralization.
Historical data from previous operators, including Newmont Exploration and BHP Minerals, indicate that oxidation extends to depths of at least 237 meters. Cyanide shake tests conducted by BHP on the mineralization have shown recoveries up to 91% on material greater than 0.5 g/t Au.
K2 Gold Corporation is planning to conduct preliminary representative bottle-roll metallurgical testing to evaluate gold extraction, extraction over time, and reagent consumption under controlled laboratory conditions. The company aims to determine the potential amenability of the tested mineralization to cyanide leaching, including heap-leach processing.
The Dragonfly and Newmont targets are part of the larger Mojave Project, which covers an area of over 6,000 hectares. The project has multiple previously recognized surface gold targets, most notably drilled by Newmont and BHP. Since acquiring the property, K2 has completed various surveys and drilling programs, including a 17-hole reverse circulation (RC) drill program focused on the Dragonfly and Newmont Zones.
The company's next steps include a more comprehensive bottle-roll program with a qualified metallurgical laboratory. This program will evaluate gold extraction over time, cyanide and lime consumption, and the effect of particle size, supported by head and residue assays. The final scope and timing of the program will be determined based on sample availability and laboratory consultation.
K2 Gold Corporation is well-financed with a treasury of over $27 million and is led by an experienced team with a track record of success. The company is primarily operating in the southwestern United States and the Yukon territory of Canada.
