Jeptha Creed Distillery Introduces Solera Aged Bourbon Blending Nine Corn Varietals

Since its founding in 2016, Jeptha Creed Distillery has been at the forefront of the craft whiskey movement in Kentucky. The distillery, located in Shelbyville, Kentucky, has made heirloom corn central to its approach, using non-GMO corn varietals grown on family farms in Shelby County to craft unique expressions of bourbon. Over the past decade, Jeptha Creed has experimented with nine distinct corn varietals, including Bloody Butcher, Bruce’s Blue, and Jimmy Red, each contributing to the complexity of its whiskeys.
To commemorate its 10th anniversary, Jeptha Creed is introducing a groundbreaking Solera Aged Bourbon, the first time all nine varietals will be united in a single blend. This process involves systematically transferring younger bourbon into older barrels, allowing the corn varietals to integrate and develop over time. The result is a singular expression that encapsulates the breadth of Jeptha Creed’s work with heirloom corn.
“From the beginning, our goal was to build a distillery that honors the land and the grain we grow on our family farm,” said Joyce Nethery, Master Distiller and CEO of Jeptha Creed Distillery. “This Solera Aged Bourbon is a testament to a decade of hard work, dedication, and patience. It represents where we started, how far we've come, and what makes Jeptha Creed who we are today.”
The Solera Aged Bourbon is crafted from a mash bill of 75% heirloom corn, 20% malted rye, and 5% malted barley. It is bottled at 100 proof and will make its debut at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, running from September 10 to 13. Visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to taste the new offering, which will also be available on-site at Jeptha Creed Distillery and through the distillery’s online shop starting September 17.
The release of the Solera Aged Bourbon is part of Jeptha Creed’s 10th anniversary celebrations, which will culminate in the Jammin’ at Jeptha concert featuring country music star Rodney Atkins on October 10. The concert will serve as a celebration of the distillery’s journey and the community it has built over the past decade.
“Jeptha Creed Distillery’s Solera Aged Bourbon represents a milestone in our commitment to craft, quality, and heritage,” said Nethery. “We’re excited to share this new expression with our fans and the broader whiskey community.”
Jeptha Creed Solera Aged Bourbon (MSRP: $79.99) will be available in 750ml bottles at the Distillery Visitor Center & Online Shop. The distillery continues to use old-fashioned methods to meet today’s modern tastes, ensuring that their products meet the highest expectations for quality and flavor.
