Jeep Introduces 2027 Wrangler JL-2A Honoring CJ-2A Heritage

More than 80 years after the Willys CJ-2A first brought Jeep capability to civilian life, the Jeep brand is honoring its heritage with the introduction of the 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A. This special edition, the 11th drop in the Twelve 4 Twelve series, connects today’s Wrangler generation to the original CJ-2A, the vehicle that launched the "CJ" or Civilian Jeep legacy.

The 2027 Wrangler JL-2A is built on the Wrangler Rubicon platform, blending legendary Trail Rated capability with authentic design cues that pay tribute to the original Willys CJ-2A. The exterior features a modern salute to the original CJ-2A's color palette, with Gobi as one of the paint options for the two-door model and '41 for the four-door model. Other available colors include Bright White, Sting Gray, Ghost, and Joose. The 17-inch retro Joose painted wheels, paired with standard 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires, draw inspiration from the original Sunset Red wheels.

The body-color fender flares and three-piece hardtop create a clean, cohesive exterior, while the front and rear orange tow hooks add bold pops of color and unmistakable Jeep character. The iconic seven-slot grille is given a distinctive modern look with Dark Metallic Grey accents. Inside, the JL-2A features a unique interior combination of premium Nappa Heritage Tan and Bison Brown materials, with bold Desert Orange accent stitching throughout the cabin. Exclusive Willys-Overland satin chrome shifter medallion and heritage-inspired HVAC vent graphics pay tribute to Jeep's Willys roots.

The 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A will be available to order in October, with a package of MSRP of $4,995, delivering its unique content for $115 more than a similarly equipped Rubicon. The vehicle is part of the Jeep brand's ongoing commitment to innovation and the legacy of freedom, adventure, authenticity, and passion that has defined the brand for 85 years.

The original CJ-2A, introduced in July 1945, was a battle-proven formula adapted for civilian use. Built by Willys-Overland in Toledo, Ohio, the CJ-2A brought proven Jeep capability to farms, ranches, and industry, adding practical features such as a tailgate and rear power takeoff, along with larger headlights and the now-iconic seven-slot grille. Bold postwar color combinations, including Harvest Tan with Sunset Red wheels and Pasture Green with Autumn Yellow wheels, brought personality to the purpose-built workhorse and directly inspired its modern-day namesake.
