Jake Loftus Joins Signature Resolution as Mediator and Arbitrator

Signature Resolution has expanded its roster of neutrals by welcoming Jake Loftus, a seasoned financial services litigator, to its panel. Loftus will serve as a mediator and arbitrator for disputes involving financial services, securities, employment, business, and trust and estate matters.

Loftus brings extensive experience from his time at DLA Piper, where he was a partner. His career has spanned representing broker-dealers, investment banks, private equity and venture capital funds, financial advisors, and corporate executives before the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and state regulators. This background has equipped him with a deep understanding of regulatory matters, which he will leverage in his mediation and arbitration roles.

A pivotal moment in Loftus’s career was his management of a major brokerage office during the 2008 financial crisis. This experience honed his ability to assess the broader implications of business disputes, beyond just legal fees. His approach is characterized by thorough preparation and direct engagement with all parties involved, ensuring that the time spent in mediation is productive and focused on closing gaps between positions.

Loftus’s career trajectory is marked by a diverse range of legal experiences. He began in maritime law, moved into securities litigation, and served as general counsel for a financial firm with international operations. His most recent role as a partner at DLA Piper allowed him to further expand his practice into trust and estate work, employment disputes, and trade secret litigation.

Dario Higuchi, Signature Resolution’s founder and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about Loftus’s addition to the panel. "Jake brings a practical combination of deep industry knowledge and real-world business judgment to the mediation table," Higuchi stated.

Loftus's credentials are impressive. He earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Whittier Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Whittier Law Review and received the American Board of Trial Advocates Award. His academic and professional background, coupled with his experience in managing a brokerage office during the financial crisis, make him a valuable addition to Signature Resolution.

In addition to his legal career, Loftus has also served on the Board of Governors, Executive Committee, and Finance Committee of the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation, where he formerly chaired the Finance Committee.
