iThrive Learning Architects, a consultancy firm specializing in curriculum redesign and corporate training, has released a report highlighting a significant gap in current AI adoption strategies. The report, titled "The AI Adoption Blind Spot," evaluates 15 prominent AI strategy playbooks published in 2025 and 2026, including 13 widely recommended CEO-level surveys from firms such as McKinsey, BCG, PwC, IBM, and KPMG, as well as academic reports from the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) and MIT’s Ad Hoc Committee on AI.
Alan Boyer, founder and managing partner of iThrive Learning Architects, explains that while these playbooks effectively outline the importance of human capabilities in AI-integrated workflows, they fall short in providing actionable steps to develop these capabilities.
The report identifies several key blind spots in current AI adoption frameworks: 1. No Action Plan: The playbooks lack a systematic process for developing human capabilities in educators, students, or employees. 2. No Curriculum Redesign Method: There are no frameworks to modify courses and training modules for AI-enabled work environments. 3. No Educator Development: Professional development for faculty and learning and development (L&D) leaders responsible for instruction is missing. 4. Alignment Disconnect: Existing training programs fail to align with the post-AI skill sets required.
To address these gaps, iThrive proposes an AI + Human Capability Architecture. This framework includes: 1. A defined set of seven human capabilities essential for AI-integrated workflows. 2. A repeatable design method to integrate these skills into existing courses and training programs. 3. Professional development to build these capabilities in educators and trainers first.
Boyer, who brings 20 years of curriculum design experience across higher education, emphasizes the importance of elevating non-automatable human capabilities.
