At IFA 2026, iRobot Corp. has unveiled the Roomba® Duo, a revolutionary dual-unit robot vacuum and mop designed to provide comprehensive floor care. The new system combines the powerful cleaning capabilities of a wet-dry vacuum with the autonomous navigation of a traditional robot vacuum, addressing a long-standing trade-off in robotic floor care.
The Roomba® Duo features a heavy-duty main robot paired with an ultra-compact companion robot. The main unit, which vacuums and steam-mops, is equipped with a top-mounted mechanical arm that allows it to carry and deploy the companion robot into tight spaces. Both robots are guided by a shared home map and an autonomous mobile dock, working together to deliver seamless, intelligent cleaning throughout the home.
According to Hao Li, CEO of iRobot, "The Roomba® Duo represents a significant step forward in home robotics. By combining the strengths of two specialized robots, we've created a system that can handle both dry and wet cleaning tasks more effectively than ever before."
The main robot, with its distinctive cylindrical body, houses a wet-and-dry floor-washing module, a high-performance motor, and a large-capacity battery. Its 60mm-diameter PowerSpin™ Max Roller Mop applies up to 46N of pressure, ensuring thorough cleaning. An internal heater generates controlled steam to loosen tough, dried-on grime, followed by a continuously self-cleaning roller that washes away dirt and sticky spills. A hot-air drying component ensures the surface is quickly dried to protect wooden floors.
The companion robot, which can be seen in action at the IFA booth, is based on the Roomba® Plus 575 Combo Robot launched earlier this year. This ultra-compact unit measures just 8.35 cm tall and 29.8 cm wide, allowing it to slip under low furniture and clean tight corners. Its PerfectEdge® mop pad extends up to 31mm, and it features air-lift omni-wheels that enable it to climb thresholds up to 3.5 cm, ensuring it can clean multiple rooms without getting stuck.
Both robots are equipped with ClearView™ Pro dual-line LiDAR and PrecisionVision™ AI, enabling them to navigate obstacles and build detailed maps of the home. The main unit's top-mounted AI cameras provide a wider, elevated view, aiding in the identification of larger stains or areas of debris build-up for targeted deep cleaning. Large 17cm wheels powered by hub motors ensure stability as the main robot moves between spaces.
The shared AutoWash™ dock handles autonomous maintenance, featuring a centralized clean-water supply and wastewater tank. It automatically washes and dries the mops and empties collected dust into a large bag, allowing for hands-off use for months.
"The Roomba® Duo is a testament to our commitment to innovation and improving the quality of home life," said Li. "By combining the strengths of two specialized robots, we've created a system that not only enhances cleaning efficiency but also simplifies the home maintenance process for busy families."
iRobot will showcase the Roomba® Duo prototype at Booth 133, Hall 9, Messe Berlin, Germany from September 4-8, 2026, inviting media, influencers, and industry partners to attend live demonstrations and learn more about the company's latest innovations.
