IREN’s 2GW Sweetwater Hub Included in ERCOT Batch Zero

NEW YORK, Sept. 08, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- IREN Limited, a vertically integrated AI Cloud platform, has announced that its 2GW Sweetwater Hub, comprising Sweetwater 1 (1,400MW) and Sweetwater 2 (600MW), has been conditionally included in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) Batch Zero process as Base Load. This development is part of IREN’s broader 5GW global data center expansion plans.
Sweetwater 1, which includes IREN’s high-voltage substation, was energized earlier this year. The construction of 300MW (gross) of data center capacity is currently underway, with delivery targeted for the fourth quarter of 2027. Additionally, IREN has included other large-scale projects within its development pipeline in Batch Zero, with the company’s approach consistent with previous projects, integrating these projects into its development portfolio following the execution of relevant grid connection agreements.
The inclusion of the Sweetwater Hub in ERCOT Batch Zero as Base Load is a significant milestone for IREN. ERCOT’s classifications remain conditional and subject to ongoing approval processes. IREN will continue to work closely with transmission and distribution service providers, grid operators, regulators, and local communities to develop future data center capacity.
Sweetwater 1 and 2 form part of IREN’s announced >5GW global data center development portfolio.
