Inveniam Introduces Proof of Illiquid Reserves Solution

Inveniam Capital Partners, Inc. has introduced a new solution called Proof of Illiquid Reserves, which aims to address the critical issue of valuing hard-to-value assets in the financial sector. This innovation comes in response to a series of regulatory actions that have highlighted the need for more robust methods of valuing private and illiquid assets.
The launch of Proof of Illiquid Reserves is timely, as it addresses the shortcomings of previous methods of reserve validation. According to Inveniam, traditional methods such as public wallet attestations and Merkle-tree proofs only confirm the existence of assets where they can be seen on an open ledger. These methods remain silent on private loans, structured holdings, and strategic positions, and do not provide any insight into the value of these assets. Proof of Illiquid Reserves, on the other hand, aims to solve the critical problem of independently verifiable value.
The solution works by processing documents where they already reside, using Inveniam’s open document format (DGML) to parse complex legal and financial documents into addressable data elements. These elements are then used as inputs into a published valuation methodology, version-controlled by asset class, and signed by an independent valuation agent. The computation can be executed on a chosen cadence, with cryptographic hashes of the underlying elements, input vectors, method versions, and resulting calculations anchored to the NVNM Chain. This ensures that counterparties can independently confirm the published figures without needing access to proprietary borrower files.
The solution is designed to operate independently, with strict operational separation among three parties: the methodology, computation, and recalculation. An independent valuation agent authors and signs the valuation model, Inveniam computes the valuation against attested document inputs, and a fund administrator recalculates the identical figure from the same source inputs and countersigns the final output. Apex Group, Inveniam’s Valuation-as-a-Service partner since 2022, provides this independent recomputation.
Verification is structured across three tiers: continuous machine verification, periodic agreed-upon procedures (AUP), and an annual financial statement audit. The continuous machine verification is available on demand to any counterparty holding a hash, requiring no access to proprietary borrower files and no bilateral engagement letter. Periodic AUP is conducted by an independent accounting firm on a statistical sample of valuation marks, while the annual financial statement audit consumes the cryptographic chain of custody as primary audit evidence.
Inveniam Capital Partners is making Proof of Illiquid Reserves available immediately as an enterprise solution. The company offers a standard methodology library, a 90-day proof of concept, and a platform-agnostic token wrapper. The standard methodology library includes pre-mapped valuation methods, automated ingestion templates, and compliance controls to ASC 820 fair-value standards and AICPA criteria.
The launch of Proof of Illiquid Reserves is significant as it addresses the regulatory requirements set by various supervisory actions. The SEC’s Fair Value Mandate, established on September 28, 2026, requires institutions to estimate fair value even in the absence of borrower information. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Private Asset Disclosures, effective at year-end 2026, mandate insurers to report private asset valuations and exposure to complex valuation inputs. The GENIUS Act Implementation, effective on January 18, 2027, tightens reserve standards for stablecoin issuers, with restrictions on distribution through US platforms taking effect on July 18, 2028. The AICPA Stablecoin Criteria, updated in January 2026, pivots from passive snapshot holdings to active, tested operational controls around underlying reserves.
These measures collectively impact a significant portion of the global financial landscape, with the launch of Proof of Illiquid Reserves addressing the critical need for robust valuation methods in the private and illiquid asset markets.
