BANGKOK, Oct. 1, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Infineon Technologies AG has unveiled a new backend manufacturing hub in Bangkok, Thailand, marking a significant step in the company's global expansion strategy. The facility, strategically located in Samut Prakan, is designed to bolster Infineon's global production network and cater to the growing demand for semiconductors driven by digitalization, electrification, and the energy transition.
The new backend manufacturing site is part of Infineon's broader plan to diversify its manufacturing footprint. The Bangkok hub is expected to become one of the company's largest backend manufacturing sites over time, with the potential to scale up to five modules. This expansion underscores Infineon's commitment to serving customers worldwide with resilient and flexible capacity.
Alexander Gorski, Chief Operations Officer of Infineon Technologies, highlighted the strategic importance of Bangkok.
The Bangkok site currently employs around 350 people and is expected to grow to approximately 1,000 employees as the first building (Module A) ramps up. The facility is equipped with advanced cleanroom, assembly, and test capabilities, all supported by a high level of automation. This unique combination strengthens its role within Infineon's manufacturing network and enables increasingly complex, high-value semiconductor solutions for applications across the automotive, industrial, and energy infrastructure sectors.
Infineon's commitment to sustainability is evident in the Bangkok site's design. The facility runs on 100 percent green electricity and incorporates water recycling and rainwater collection systems. Additionally, solar modules generate renewable energy on site, contributing to Infineon's strategic priority of continuously reducing its carbon footprint across the entire value chain.
The new backend manufacturing site is a strong vote of confidence in Thailand's future as a leading semiconductor location.
The Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) has been instrumental in fostering valuable investment in Thailand. Its mission is to promote investment through various packages, facilitation services, and the integration and connection of businesses. The BOI's support has been crucial in making Bangkok an attractive location for Infineon's expansion.
Infineon Technologies AG, with around 57,000 employees worldwide (end of September 2025) and generated revenue of about €14.7 billion in the 2025 fiscal year (ending 30 September), is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (ticker symbol: IFX) and in the USA on the OTCQX International over-the-counter market (ticker symbol: IFNNY).
