KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 26, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Knoxville, Tenn., February 9-11, 2027. The inaugural Advanced Composites Technical Conference (ACTC) is set to convene researchers, engineers, and industry leaders in Knoxville, Tennessee, to explore the latest advancements in advanced materials and manufacturing technologies. Organized by the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) and the Advanced Carbons Council (ACC), the event aims to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange in the composites industry.
IACMI, established in 2015 by the U.S. Department of Energy, is dedicated to enhancing U.S. manufacturing competitiveness through innovation, workforce development, and advanced materials. With a membership of over 200 industry, academic, and government partners, IACMI accelerates the development and adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies. Since 2019, the institute has expanded its workforce programs, supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) and other stakeholders.
The ACTC will feature a diverse array of sessions, including tours, demonstrations, and technical insights covering composite mechanics, process simulation, material development, structural design, and next-generation production methods. Leading experts will delve into innovations in thermoplastic processing, automated tape placement, fiber orientation, resin systems, multifunctional materials, and composite performance in various applications such as nuclear, aerospace, automotive, energy, construction, and data centers.
Attendees will also explore advancements in additive and hybrid manufacturing, smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, design optimization, structural metals, and high-temperature material systems. The conference will provide a platform for technical experts to share their insights and advancements, addressing shared manufacturing challenges and accelerating the adoption of advanced composite technologies across industries.
IACMI brings together 200+ industry, academic, and government partners to accelerate advanced manufacturing technologies and products and develop the next generation of skilled workers. Established in 2015 by the U.S. Department of Energy, IACMI is part of the Manufacturing USA® network of institutes working to secure America’s global leadership in advanced manufacturing. Since 2019, IACMI has scaled up workforce programs for the U.S. Department of War (DoW), formerly Department of Defense. IACMI is supported by the Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program within the Innovation Capability and Modernization (ICAM) office. Based in Knoxville, Tennessee, IACMI is managed by the Collaborative Composite Solutions Corporation, a not-for-profit organization established by The University of Tennessee Research Foundation.
