HyOrc Completes Modular Waste-to-Methanol Plant for Porto

HOUSTON, Sept. 21, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- HyOrc Corporation has completed the off-site modular build of its first commercial waste-to-methanol plant, marking a significant step in the company's expansion plans. The modular plant, designed to process approximately three tonnes of RDF (non-recyclable municipal and industrial waste) per day, is set to yield up to one tonne of chemical-grade green methanol per day. This innovative system aims to transform domestic waste liabilities into high-value liquid fuels, providing an industrial bridge between waste management and maritime decarbonization.

The plant, now preparing for factory testing and subsequent transport to Porto, Portugal, represents the first commercial deployment of HyOrc’s modular waste-to-fuel infrastructure. The Porto deployment serves as the baseline commercial blueprint for HyOrc’s modular replication strategy, with additional high-priority ports across Europe, including Algeciras, Barcelona, Genoa, Marseille, Le Havre, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremen, Immingham, Gdansk, Gothenburg, and Varna, lined up for potential locations to deploy its modular waste-to-fuel infrastructure.

HyOrc’s Portuguese joint venture has secured approval for a €6.7 million non-dilutive grant under the European Union STEP-Programme to support its Phase-2 expansion to 35-TPD of RDF input, which is expected to produce approximately 8-TPD of methanol. Additionally, HyOrc and its Bulgarian partner have applied for a €50 million EU Innovation Fund grant.

The modular skid architecture of HyOrc’s system is designed to be fully constructed and tested off-site as integrated, skid-mounted assemblies, reducing on-site civil works and streamlining portside integration. The underlying conversion pathway, spanning gasification, syngas cleaning, conditioning, and methanol synthesis, has been independently verified with zero non-conformities by Bureau Veritas. This robust and tested process ensures the reliability and efficiency of HyOrc’s waste-to-fuel technology.
