The 2026 Huai'an Golden Autumn Economic and Trade Symposium opened, marking a significant milestone for the city's economic development. Huai'an, a city in Jiangsu Province, has seen remarkable progress in various sectors, including industrial development, business environment, and economic growth.
According to Secretary Gu Kun of the CPC Huai'an Municipal Committee, the city has achieved historic breakthroughs in industrial development. The number of industrial enterprises above designated size, national high-tech enterprises, and companies with output value of 10 billion yuan or more has doubled. This has been accompanied by a significant increase in total industrial output value and industrial power consumption. Additionally, the business environment has improved, with a service system covering every stage of a company's development and steadily rising satisfaction among businesses.
Looking ahead, Huai'an plans to focus on three key areas. First, the city aims to see one blueprint through, working steadily for lasting results rather than quick wins. This resolve is particularly significant given the symbolic role of the city as the hometown of the late Premier Zhou Enlai. Second, Huai'an will prioritize new industrialization and build a rainforest-like ecosystem where businesses can thrive. This approach focuses on treating companies as users and designing services around them. Lastly, the city aims to strengthen its counties, improve residents' lives, and enhance its overall development momentum, aligning with China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
The symposium, which opened on the same day, attracted guest representatives who praised Huai'an for its superior business environment, sound industrial ecosystem, and fertile ground for scientific and technological innovation. Three tech companies based in Huai'an, including Jiangsu Feite'er Communication, presented project roadshows and pitched Huai'an's industrial opportunities. Agreements were signed for major projects, technology projects, and industry funds, signaling a strong commitment to fostering commerce and welcoming businessmen.
The benzyl chloride market, a critical chemical intermediate, is projected to expand significantly. The global market is expected to grow from a valuation of USD 580.0 million in 2025 to approximately USD 830.0 million by 2035. This growth represents an absolute increase of USD 250.0 million, with the market forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.6% over the ten-year period. This market expansion is driven by heightened utilization in pharmaceutical manufacturing and other industries.
The symposium's opening marks a pivotal moment for Huai'an's continued growth and development, aligning with the city's ambitious goals set forth in China's 15th Five-Year Plan. As Huai'an looks to the future, it aims to take high-quality development to a new level, fostering a business-friendly environment and promoting innovation and industrial growth.
