BOSTON, Oct. 23, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- HoneyNaps, a South Korean sleep medicine AI company, has been selected for a 2026 Eurostars international R&D project. The project, supported in Korea by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), aims to develop a non-invasive platform for neurological monitoring.
The consortium, which includes HoneyNaps, Yonsei University, Dankook University, Uppsala University, and Xantage AB, will work on creating an integrated platform to monitor changes in intracranial pressure (ICP) and sleep status. The project combines the expertise of participating institutions in sensor technology, artificial intelligence, and clinical platforms.
The platform will utilize a compact chip-scale vector network analyzer (VNA), SansEC microwave resonant sensors, physics-informed AI, and wireless polysomnography (PSG) signal analysis. It is designed to continuously estimate changes in ICP and automatically analyze sleep stages and events. The project will also establish the technical and documentation framework needed to prepare for submission under the European Union Medical Device Regulation (MDR).
HoneyNaps will focus on the wireless collection and analysis of electroencephalogram (EEG), electrooculogram (EOG), electromyogram (EMG), electrocardiogram (ECG), oxygen saturation (SpO₂), and respiratory signals. The goal is to combine the clinical information provided by laboratory-based PSG with the convenience of home-based testing, enabling automated analysis of sleep stages and key sleep events.
The project is expected to bring significant advancements in the field of sleep medicine and neurological monitoring. The development of a non-invasive platform could revolutionize the way doctors and researchers monitor and understand brain function and sleep patterns. This could lead to better diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and neurological conditions, ultimately improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
The project will operate at Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL 6), indicating that the technology is near the end of its development cycle and is ready for demonstration and testing. The consortium hopes to validate the platform through rigorous testing and clinical trials, paving the way for potential commercialization and global market entry.
This collaboration between HoneyNaps and leading academic institutions in South Korea and Sweden underscores the company's commitment to innovation and its position as a leader in the field of sleep medicine. The project is expected to contribute to the advancement of medical technology and provide new tools for healthcare professionals to better understand and address neurological and sleep-related issues.
