Hondros College of Nursing Joins American Public University System
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Hondros College of Nursing has joined American Public University System (APUS), marking a significant milestone that broadens educational pathways for nursing students and reinforces the college’s commitment to the healthcare workforce.
For over two decades, Hondros College of Nursing has trained thousands of licensed practical nurses and registered nurses, adhering to a student-centered, laddered approach to nursing education. With the new affiliation, the college can now offer pathways for students to pursue bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees, as well as additional programs that support career advancement and lifelong learning.
“This marks an exciting new chapter for our students,” said David Kramer, interim president of Hondros College of Nursing, part of APUS. “We’ve been helping students launch rewarding nursing careers for more than twenty years, and now we’re expanding opportunities for them to continue their education and professional growth.”
The move to APUS, which includes institutions like American Public University and Rasmussen University, ensures that Hondros College of Nursing operates under the Higher Learning Commission’s institutional accreditation. This accreditation, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, will strengthen the college’s ability to support students and address evolving healthcare workforce needs.
Hondros College of Nursing currently serves students through eight campuses across Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan, maintaining strong relationships with healthcare partners and communities in the region. The new affiliation will enable students to explore a wider range of educational opportunities, ultimately contributing to a more robust healthcare workforce.

The new partnership also offers expanded support for students, including access to a broader array of academic programs and resources. With approximately 109,000 students and over 250,000 alumni worldwide, the American Public University System is well-positioned to continue its mission of empowering students through education.
