Vancouver, British Columbia, TheNewswire - October 29, 2026, Helix BioPharma Corp. (TSX: “HBP”, OTC: “HBPCF”, FRANKFURT: “HBP0”) has reported its financial results for the fiscal year ended July 31, 2026. The company announced a net loss and total comprehensive loss of $3,354,000, a significant improvement from the $5,205,000 loss reported in the previous fiscal year (July 31, 2025). This translates to a loss of $0.04 per common share, compared to a loss of $0.09 per common share in the prior year.

During the fiscal year, the company made several key appointments to strengthen its leadership and operational capabilities. On August 17, 2026, Markus Loeffler, MD, MBA, was appointed as Chief Medical Officer. Loeffler brings over 30 years of experience in oncology drug development and will oversee the clinical advancement of the company’s pipeline.

In February 2026, Helen Middleton was appointed as General Counsel, and David Browning was named Vice President of Clinical Operations. Both appointees bring extensive experience in their respective fields, further enhancing the company’s legal and clinical development capabilities.

The company also presented data from its CEACAM6-directed antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) program at the 16th Annual World ADC London conference. Dr. Jonathan Davis, Director of ADC Discovery, highlighted the therapeutic potential of CEACAM6 across multiple epithelial cancers and presented preclinical data demonstrating the tumor-selective binding profile of the company’s proprietary anti-CEACAM6 VHH (nanobody).

On February 5, 2026, Helix BioPharma extended its Research and Exclusive Option Agreement with metaShape Pharma AG, covering LEUMUNA™ for adipose tissue-related and metabolic diseases. The agreement, which runs through December 31, 2028, allows metaShape to develop the compound, designated MS 001, as an oral co-therapy for GLP-1 receptor agonists. Preclinical data from the agreement show improved weight loss outcomes and reduced weight regain following GLP-1 withdrawal.

The company also received positive feedback from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the study design of LDOS007, a new Phase Ib/Randomized Phase II, open label study to assess L-DOS47 in combination with pembrolizumab as first-line therapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The FDA indicated that the company could proceed without an End-of-Phase-I (EOPI) meeting, as the written feedback was sufficiently clear.

In corporate development, the company announced several key changes. On September 28, 2026, Karen Krumeich, Jamieson Bondarenko, CFA, CMT, Charmaine Lykins, MBA, and Dirk Brockstedt, PhD, were appointed to the Board of Directors, with Krumeich assuming the role of Chair. The company also announced the resignations of Jacek Antas, Malgorzata Laube, and Jerzy Leszczynski. Following these changes, the Board comprises six directors, five of whom are independent. The company also reconstituted its Audit Committee, comprising Karen Krumeich as Chair, Zachary T. Stadnyk, and Jamieson Bondarenko.

On August 14, 2026, the company announced that CEO Thomas Mehrling, MD, PhD, would join the Board of Directors. On June 12, 2026, the company filed its unaudited interim financial statements for the three- and nine-month periods ended April 30, 2026, along with the related Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MDA) and CEO and CFO certifications. These filings were made available on SEDAR+ and the company’s website.

On May 27, 2026, the company issued unsecured convertible debentures with an aggregate principal of $3,673,000. The debentures bear simple interest at 25% per annum and mature on July 27, 2027. These debentures are convertible at the holder’s option on maturity, with principal convertible at $1.42 per Common Share.

Research and development expenses for the year ended July 31, 2026, totaled $1,620,000, a decrease of $1,938,000 or 54% from the previous year. The reduction in spending was primarily due to the wind-down of previous clinical development activities, including the LDOS006 study in metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma, and the deferral of engagement with external service providers for the next phase of development of L-DOS47 and other pipeline programs pending successful fundraising. Additional reductions in salaries and benefits, reflecting the closure of the Edmonton laboratory, and lower stock-based compensation expenses also contributed to the decrease.

Operating, general, and administration expenses for the year ended July 31, 2026, totaled $2,019,000, an increase of $180,000 or 10% from the previous year.
