Hedera Contributes CLPR to Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust Labs

NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Hedera, a leading provider of distributed ledger technology, has contributed its CLPR (Cross-Ledger Protocol) to the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust (LFDT) as a new lab. This move aims to facilitate developer participation and experimentation with a bridgeless cross-ledger protocol, addressing the fragmentation issues prevalent in today’s blockchain networks.

Blockchain networks currently operate as distinct ecosystems, each with its own consensus rules, token standards, and execution environment. This fragmentation means that assets issued on one ledger are generally unable to interact natively with another. Workarounds such as bridges and wrapped assets have emerged to address this issue, but they introduce additional security risks, intermediaries, and liquidity requirements. CLPR, developed by Hashgraph, is designed to address these challenges by providing a new approach to cross-ledger interoperability.

CLPR is bridgeless by design and uses state proofs to allow ledgers to verify each other's states directly, eliminating the need for intermediaries. This protocol aims to end the "trapped liquidity era" by establishing cryptographic trust directly between ledgers. This allows CLPR-enabled applications to move tokens, data, and messages freely and securely across networks without a bridge.

Hedera’s contribution to the LFDT ecosystem coincides with a call for participants to join Hashgraph’s Cross-Ledger Early Adopter Program. This program offers full access to a Hashgraph-hosted testnet environment for selected participants. The program is structured to focus on three distinct use cases: cross-border payments and in-flight FX, cross-ledger settlement, and collateral mobility. Participants will have access to a CLPR-enabled application layer and an assigned integration expert to support their progress. The program aims to select participants from a range of countries to ensure cross-border regulatory and compliance considerations are baked in from the beginning.

To register interest and help shape the Cross-Ledger Early Adopter program ahead of its full market launch, interested parties can visit Hashgraph’s website.

As an LFDT lab, CLPR is open to developers, researchers, and organizations interested in exploring cross-ledger interoperability. Community members are invited to review the code, evaluate the protocol's approach, propose use cases, open issues, and contribute to its ongoing development. com/LFDT-CLPR).

Hedera, through its commitment to open collaboration, aims to solve one of the industry's most persistent problems: network interoperability. CLPR is designed to fix this cryptographically, ensuring that data, assets, and messages move freely without a single point of failure. The company's contribution to the LFDT ecosystem is part of its ongoing commitment to open-source development and community governance.

The Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust, through its LFDT Labs, provides a structured path for CLPR to grow. Participants can experiment with the CLPR codebase in the LFDT Labs GitHub repository and explore different use cases. This open development approach is expected to establish momentum and refine the protocol before it reaches top-level LFDT project status.
