Haivision Joins IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme

MONTREAL, Sept. 04, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Haivision, a leading global provider of mission-critical, real-time video networking and visual collaboration solutions, has joined the IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme as part of the Network Control: Your Connection, Your Choice project. The initiative aims to explore how open network APIs can enable specialized applications to interact with standard network capabilities, supporting reliable and business-critical media production workflows over 5G.

The Network Control: Your Connection, Your Choice project is led by a group of industry champions including BBC, EBU, DAZN, France Télévisions, GSMA, RAI Italy, RTL Germany, TV 2 Denmark, Vodafone, and Telefónica. Haivision will collaborate with fellow participants Neutral Wireless, LiveU, SliceFinity, and Vonage, as well as the Academic Partner University of Strathclyde. The project focuses on developing and testing proof-of-concept workflows for major sporting events in Germany and Spain, to be demonstrated at IBC2026.

The project team will evaluate how network-aware applications and open network APIs can provide broadcasters and content creators with greater visibility and control over connectivity resources. The goal is to ensure more reliable and consistent transmission of live video over 5G networks, enhancing the quality and resilience of remote and mobile production workflows.

Jean-Marc Racine, Chief Product Officer at Haivision, emphasized the importance of 5G for remote and live production workflows. "As 5G becomes the norm for cellular networks, ensuring predictable and reliable connectivity is crucial. Through the IBC Accelerator Programme, we are collaborating with industry leaders to explore how programmable 5G services and open Quality on Demand network APIs can enhance live video contribution and provide greater operational confidence for broadcasters in challenging environments."

Haivision will contribute its expertise in live video contribution and mobile video transmission technologies. The company will use its Falkon X2 mobile video transmitter, a compact bonded cellular field unit, in conjunction with the Haivision StreamHub receiver and Hub 360 cloud master control solution. These tools will enable API-driven requests for specific SIMs to prioritize traffic when network conditions become congested.
