GTI Forum Advances Global AI Development and Cooperation

HONG KONG, Sept. 10, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- At the 3rd GTI Forum on Digital Intelligence held in Hong Kong on September 8, 2026, Global Telecommunications Innovation (GTI) convened a series of discussions aimed at advancing global inclusive artificial intelligence (AI) development. The event, themed "Openness, Sharing, Cooperation - Advancing AI Development," brought together industry leaders, regulators, and researchers to forge a path forward in AI innovation.
Gao Tongqing, Chairman of GTI, emphasized the importance of international collaboration in driving AI development. He stated, "GTI continues to strengthen global cooperation, foster open exchange, and build consensus on development priorities. Working alongside international organizations, regulators, universities, and research institutions, GTI is deepening cross-domain and cross-regional collaboration."
GTI has established eight open laboratories across Asia, Europe, and North America, and has built a 6G open testbed. These initiatives, coupled with the launch of a global open innovation challenge with the GSMA, have provided practical guidance for the global industry to tackle common challenges. Over 50 white papers and research reports have been released, offering valuable insights and strategies for the development of AI.
During the forum, Li Huidi, Executive Vice President of China Mobile, underscored the critical role of GTI as a platform for open cooperation. He said, "China Mobile, as a core founding member of GTI, will continue to leverage its open cooperation platform to discuss AI technology evolution, industrial applications, and governance pathways with all parties."
Li Huidi went on to propose three key areas of collaboration: strengthening foundational digital capabilities, co-creating smart application scenarios, and fostering an open global ecosystem. These proposals aim to enhance the integration of AI and information and communications technologies, drive the coordinated evolution of communications networks, computing networks, and AI networks, and ensure secure, trustworthy, inclusive, and accessible development of AI.
The event also featured two sub-forums on Smart Transportation and Mobile AI, which brought together over 20 experts and executives from sectors including transportation, low-altitude economy, artificial intelligence. These sub-forums explored integrated development and practices of AI across sectors, driving broader and deeper expansion of "AI+" and empowering transformation and upgrading of all industries.
At the event, GTI, alongside China Mobile and over 20 industry partners, jointly released the GTI AI Security Governance Technology White Paper and the Security Capability System. They also officially launched the AI4S Scientific Workstation • International Edition (TG Science) in collaboration with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Additionally, the GTI, China Mobile, and over 10 industry-university-research partners jointly released the Achievement of the 6G Open Testbed: Base Station and Terminal Prototype IODT Based on the Latest 3GPP Definitions.
The forum highlighted the evolving role of AI in transforming productivity and social governance, moving from isolated tools to general-purpose capabilities. As the "AI+" era unfolds, China Mobile is committed to working hand in hand with partners from all sectors to drive forward the integration of AI into various industries, ensuring that AI serves society and enhances the lives of people globally.
