BOSTON, Oct. 13, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Grid interconnection and planning software developer GridUnity has been recognized as the Clean Energy Company of the Year at the Energy Leadership Gala, hosted by the Alliance for Climate Transition (ACT) at the Boston Museum of Science. The award is given annually to a company that has substantially impacted the region's clean energy industry and stands out from the crowd, having established itself as both an industry leader and market-maker.

GridUnity began in 2007 as a capstone project in ACT's Clean Energy Fellowship program, which recruited entrepreneurs from other sectors and prepared them to launch clean energy companies. CEO Brian Fitzsimons was a member of the first cohort. Since then, GridUnity has grown to serve utilities and system operators covering more than 60% of U.S. electricity users.

GridUnity's platform manages generation and load interconnection end-to-end, across both transmission and distribution. Its unique solution architecture and grid analytics learning engine AI (GALE AI) enables all stakeholders to draw upon the platform's AI while working from the same physics-based data model. This fundamentally changes how parties are informed, collaborate, and make decisions throughout the planning and interconnection lifecycle. By bringing every stakeholder onto one platform, GridUnity speeds the process while keeping a secure, auditable record of each communication, contract, and decision.

The platform is used by the majority of U.S. ISOs/RTOs and is being deployed to more than 70 transmission owners and utilities, including PG&E, Southern California Edison, Hawaiian Electric, Southern Company, Xcel Energy, PPL, and Entergy.

As the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state utility commissions roll out requirements for faster time-to-power and responsible cost allocation, demand for proven compliance tools is growing. To meet it, GridUnity is investing an additional $100 million to accelerate development of the platform, supported by a $45 million matching grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.

GridUnity, a Founding Board Member of the AI Energy Management Alliance (AEMA), accelerates grid interconnection by streamlining and automating the complex, manual processes that delay energy deployment. The company helps utilities, transmission owners, system operators, and developers collaborate more effectively and engage all participants in generation and load interconnection at the bulk-power and distribution levels. Trusted by North America's leading utilities and system operators, GridUnity's customers serve over 60% of the U.S. population.
