Prior to his tenure at Aspen, Welch served in key roles at AXA XL Reinsurance, XL Catlin, and XL Reinsurance America. He is also a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Fairfield University. Following Aspen's acquisition by Sompo Holdings, Inc. in February 2026, Welch served as a reinsurance executive at Sompo until August 2026.

Ariel Warszawski, co-founder and co-CEO of Firefly Minerals, LLC, brings a unique blend of entrepreneurial and investment experience to the board. Founded in 2026, Firefly Minerals specializes in acquiring royalty-producing natural gas mineral rights in Appalachia. Warszawski is also the co-founder and co-portfolio manager of Firefly RE Management Company, which he established in 2020, overseeing the management of the Firefly Minerals Special Purpose Vehicle. Previously, he co-founded and managed Firefly Value Partners, a long/short value hedge fund that operated from 2006 until its completion in 2025. Warszawski holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
