Gold Port Corporation has announced significant progress on the construction of the Groete Gold Copper Project access road, bringing the project closer to its next phase of exploration. The road, which will connect the Manaka Road on the East bank of the Essequibo River to the drill site at Groete Creek, is nearing completion with debrushing completed within one mile of the Gold Port Camp.
According to the press release, the road construction has progressed well, with a 60% widening of the previous trail system. A source of laterite has been identified, and road material has been stockpiled for future use. Two all-season bridges have been completed, and two existing culverts have been replaced with bridges. The crew is expected to begin construction on the final bridge at the large creek opening shortly.
"We are excited to see the ongoing construction of infrastructure at the Groete Gold Copper Project," said Adrian F.C. Hobkirk, President and CEO of Gold Port Corporation. "This marks an important step towards supporting our upcoming drill program and ensures the project continues to move efficiently and on schedule."
The company-owned MP Explorer track-mounted diamond drill, which has been in storage, is set to be re-commissioned for service in anticipation of the access road's completion. The project, located in Guyana, South America, has a historical Inferred Mineral Resource of 1.57 million gold (Au) copper (Cu) equivalent ounces, with an Au grade of 0.49 grams per tonne (gpt) and a Cu grade of 0.12%, for a grade of 0.66 gpt gold equivalent.
The Groete Gold Copper Project was the subject of a follow-up drill program in 2019, resulting in the calculation of the Inferred Mineral Resource. The project is managed with a focus on exploration and development, aiming to advance the site towards a full-scale operation.
With the access road nearing completion, the company is well-positioned to move forward with its planned drilling program, setting the stage for further exploration and potential resource development.
