Global Open-source AI Challenge Finals Conclude in Hangzhou

Hangzhou, China, Sept. 27, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- From September 22 to 23, the Global Open-source AI Challenge Grand Finals and Awards Ceremony was held at the Cloud Valley Center in Hangzhou. This event, hosted by the Hangzhou Open Source Artificial Intelligence Foundation, brought together developers, research institutions, and industry forces to celebrate the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) through open-source collaboration.
The competition, which featured four tracks, "Agent Infra," "Boundless Agents," "AI for Research," and "Embodied Future", attracted over 14,000 developers from 91 countries and regions worldwide. These participants submitted 2,999 valid preliminary-round projects, with 70 of the most promising ones advancing to the Finals. The competition aimed to drive AI innovation projects from discovery to real-world application, emphasizing the philosophy of "Open. Share. Build."
On September 22, the Finals took place simultaneously at the Cloud Valley Center. Judging experts from universities, research institutions, open-source communities, tech enterprises, and industrial frontlines conducted comprehensive evaluations of the projects. The assessment criteria included problem value and practical impact, innovation, technical or research depth, completeness and verifiability, open-source value and reusability, and scenario deployment and ecosystem synergy potential.
Six champion teams emerged from the competition, each excelling in their respective tracks. This project addressed challenges in mirror peptide research by lowering research barriers through a new computational design pathway, validating algorithm-generated molecular starting points through wet experiments, and forming a method with reuse value.
On September 23, the six champion teams entered the "Champion Showtime" session, where they showcased their projects’ core technologies, verification results, open-source value, and future application directions. The GOAI Grand Prize was ultimately awarded to ExpLoop Lab for their innovative approach to mirror peptide research.
Beyond the Finals, the GOAI Open-source Week continued from September 20 to 24. This event included a series of activities such as the Open Source Bazaar, Corporate Hackathons, Meetups, Industry & Venture Capital Matchmaking Sessions, Sci-Tech Talent Recruitment Fair, and Open-Source Innovation Scenario Matchmaking Sessions. These activities facilitated technical exchanges, project collaboration, and industrial resource matching, bringing open-source AI innovation to a broader public audience.
The Global Open-source AI Challenge 2027 outlook video, "A New Chapter in Open-Source AI," was officially released, setting new expectations for the next phase of the competition’s development. This event not only celebrated the achievements of the current competition but also highlighted the ongoing commitment to connecting developers, open-source communities, industry scenarios, and innovation resources, driving more open-source outcomes toward real-world applications.
