Give Gift Boutique, a Hong Kong-based gift and hamper specialist, has unveiled its 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival collection, alongside a comprehensive data report on Hong Kong’s corporate gifting trends. The timing and content of the release underscore the significance of Mid-Autumn as a pivotal moment in the city’s business calendar.

According to internal data, Mid-Autumn, not Christmas or Lunar New Year, is the largest gifting occasion for Hong Kong businesses. John Wong, the Founder and CEO of Gifts International Holdings Limited, GGB’s parent company, explained that despite the festival’s traditionally quieter image, it marks a critical time for renewing relationships with clients, partners, and staff.

Wong highlighted that Mid-Autumn falls at a strategic point in the calendar, just as many Hong Kong companies begin to shape their budgets and client plans for the coming year. "A well-timed gift at this juncture can genuinely help keep relationships front of mind," he said. "It’s a more strategic gesture than a year-end gift, which may already be settled."

The data reveals a diverse spending pattern among gifting customers. While 10.73% of orders exceeded HK$10,000, reflecting a significant segment of premium spenders, the majority of orders (70.35%) fell within the HK$1,001 to HK$5,000 range. This spending range aligns with gifts that balance quality, presentation, and value.

This year, GGB’s Mid-Autumn collection features a curated range of mooncakes from renowned brands like The Peninsula Boutique, Lady M, and agnès b., alongside fresh seasonal fruits such as Japanese peaches and Kyoho grapes. Fruit hampers, which remain the most popular format among GGB’s customers, represent 65% of selections, reflecting a shift towards lighter, shareable gifts.

Corporate orders accounted for 87.3% of GGB’s Mid-Autumn volume last year, underscoring the importance of the festival for business relationships. To cater to this demand, GGB has expanded its hamper customisation service, allowing businesses to add their own logos and branded materials. This year’s range includes over 250 Mid-Autumn products, including gourmet hampers and multi-tier luxury hampers.

Operational flexibility is another key factor in corporate demand. More than one-quarter of orders involved delivery to multiple addresses, with purchases of 20 to 29 items representing 43.43% of large-volume orders. The company encourages corporate clients to place orders well in advance to ensure timely delivery.

Sustainability is also a priority for GGB. More than 85% of its leather baskets and gift boxes are made from environmentally conscious materials, and accompanying greeting cards and message plaques use biodegradable materials. This approach reduces environmental impact while maintaining the presentation of the gifts.

GGB’s efforts to be seen as an authority on Hong Kong’s gifting culture extend beyond its product range. The company’s parent, Gifts International Holdings Limited, has filed to list on the Nasdaq Capital Market, and John Wong has co-authored a book, "Happiconomy," exploring the city’s "happiness economy" and the role of gift-giving in workplace and personal wellbeing.
