GCheck Introduces Credential Wallet to Combat Hiring Fraud

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 20, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- GCheck, a modern hire-to-retire screening platform, has introduced a new credential wallet to its Verified Entry™ identity verification service. This addition aims to combat hiring fraud by reconfirming a worker's identity at various stages of employment, such as onboarding, on job sites, and at the start of a shift.
The new credential wallet works in three steps: verification, issuance, and confirmation. During verification, candidates provide consent and undergo a selfie and liveness check, followed by a front-and-back scan of a government-issued ID. The liveness, barcode, hologram, and image-quality checks ensure the candidate is holding the physical document. Once verified, candidates receive a cryptographically signed, reusable digital credential in a mobile wallet. When a worker arrives, a supervisor can scan the credential’s QR code with a phone camera to confirm the credential is genuine, current, and issued by GCheck.
GCheck highlights the gap in identity verification that exists after a standard background check. A background check confirms a candidate's identity once, at the point of hire, but does not reconfirm it afterward. This gap is where hiring fraud can occur, including fake employees, identity substitution, borrowed work authorization, AI-generated deepfakes, and synthetic identities. According to GCheck’s “The Rise of the Shadow Workforce” report, based on a survey of 1,500 employed U.S. adults, 28% have suspected a coworker was not actually the person hired or was not performing their own work. Additionally, 33% have heard of or know situations where someone was offered money to let another person use their identity or work authorization to obtain employment, a practice known as identity muling. Only 14% believe employers are doing enough today to verify workers.
The credential wallet is designed for contingent and frontline workforces that move frequently, such as temp and per-diem workers, travel nurses, subcontractor crews, and third-party contractors. These workers can carry proof of completed onboarding into each new client site, ensuring identity assurance at every handoff.
GCheck will demonstrate the credential wallet at the HR Technology Conference & Exposition (HR Tech 2026) in Las Vegas, Booth SU29, from October 20 to 22. Attendees can see a live demonstration of the Verified Entry identity verification service.
