GAC Reports Strong Overseas Sales Growth

GUANGZHOU, China, Sept. 8, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- GAC, a Chinese automaker, reported a significant surge in its overseas sales in August, with a 177% year-on-year (YoY) increase in exports of its proprietary brands to 26,978 units. This growth brings the total exports from January to August to 172,008 units, up 136% YoY, and the company anticipates reaching 600,000 cumulative exports.

In the Americas, GAC saw a 93% YoY increase in terminal sales. Notably, GAC achieved a historic breakthrough in Uruguay, where the AION V ranked second in overall SUV sales and first in compact SUV sales for July. The AION V also captured a 6.0% market share in the country, placing fifth among all passenger vehicle brands and third among pure electric vehicles.

In Southeast Asia, terminal sales for August grew 24% YoY. The Philippines saw a 283% YoY increase, while sales in Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia rose 89%, 27%, and 24% respectively. In Hong Kong, the GAC E9 topped the charts as the number one luxury MPV for July. From January to July, the GAC E9 ranked second among Chinese brands and third overall in Hong Kong.

Africa emerged as GAC's fastest-growing market, with retail sales soaring 881% YoY. The company has taken significant steps to expand its presence in the continent, signing a localized production agreement in Egypt with Jameel Motors and entering the Ghanaian market. A portfolio of flagship models, including the S7, GS8, and AION V, have been introduced in these regions.

In the Middle East, GAC continued its steady growth, marking its overseas debut of the XT80, the brand's first off-road vehicle, alongside the GS7 PHEV. The GS7 PHEV is set to launch in the Middle East in September, further solidifying GAC's position in the region.

Retail sales in Europe grew 93% month-on-month (MoM) in August. The UK saw an 89% increase, Portugal experienced a 167% boost, and Poland recorded a 33% rise. Greece stood out by ranking second in pure electric vehicle sales for August, steadily increasing its market share.

GAC's remarkable achievements across multiple continents underscore the company's phased progress in expanding its global footprint. The strong performance in various markets reflects GAC's strategic focus on diversification and localization, positioning the brand for continued growth in the international automotive landscape.
