Fungi Perfecti Publishes New Study on Agarikon Mycelium and Immune Responses

OLYMPIA, Wash., Sept. 10, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Fungi Perfecti, LLC, a company known for its research into fungi and functional mushrooms, has published new findings in the peer-reviewed journal Frontiers in Immunology. The study, titled "Adaptive Resilience: Agarikon Mycelium Modulates Immune Responses and Provides Oxidative Stress Buffering in Human Immune Cells," explores the interactions between Agarikon mycelium and human immune cells under both basal and LPS-stimulated conditions.

According to the research, Agarikon mycelium, traditionally used in various wellness practices, demonstrated a context-dependent response profile. In basal conditions, the fungus influenced gene expression patterns related to innate immune signaling pathways, including IL-1 and NF-κB pathways. The study also observed changes in select immune mediators such as IL-1RA and decreases in certain toll-like receptor transcripts.

Under LPS-stimulated conditions, which simulate immune stress, the immune response profile shifted in a manner consistent with balanced immune signaling. Increases in select immune effectors, including TLR5, were noted, along with changes associated with cytokine signaling.

In the laboratory stress-challenge model, the changes we observed displayed a context-dependent pattern consistent with balanced immune signaling."
