NEW YORK and NIEUWEGEIN, Netherlands, Sept. 29, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Fulpra US, a Dutch manufacturer of heavy-duty commercial e-quads, has announced that its flagship product, the Fulpra Quatro, has received UL certification. This certification, coupled with the Quatro's impressive payload and cargo capacity, makes it a viable alternative to traditional city vans for urban fleets in the United States.

The Fulpra Quatro boasts an industry-leading payload of 800 pounds and a cargo volume of 88 cubic feet, providing van-level performance in a compact, electric vehicle. This makes it an attractive option for dense urban areas where traditional vans are often oversized and impractical. The vehicle is now available for immediate delivery in the United States through Fulpra US's affiliate, and it comes with a new swappable battery system in partnership with Germany's Akku Energie Systeme (AES).

UL certification confirms that the Fulpra Quatro meets the stringent battery-safety and commercial e-quad rules set by New York City, the most stringent in the country. This certification opens the door for fleets in major U.S. cities such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Austin, and others to adopt the Quatro as a zero-emission replacement for their city vans.

According to Fulpra, the Quatro offers significant cost savings over traditional city vans. Over five years, a Quatro is estimated to cost roughly one-third as much to own and operate, thanks to the absence of fuel, congestion charges, and parking fines. Additionally, the Quatro can make 2.5 times as many stops per hour in dense neighborhoods, making it a more efficient choice for urban delivery services.

The Quatro has already proven its worth in various applications, from moving construction materials and compost to delivering fish, flowers, coffee beans, and linens. These capabilities have caught the attention of the trucking industry, which is increasingly looking for more sustainable and efficient solutions.

Fulpra US has partnered with Net Zero Logistics, a New York-based final-mile delivery company, to test the Quatro in the city's challenging urban environment. Net Zero, which traditionally relied on cargo bikes, has found the Quatro to be safe, reliable, and capable of handling van-sized loads. This partnership is part of a broader effort by Fulpra US to demonstrate the Quatro's capabilities in municipal fleets and other urban delivery scenarios.

Fulpra US is also working with New York City agencies and public institutions on pilot deployments of the Quatro. The company believes that municipal fleets, which often operate in short, heavy trips on grounds where full-size trucks are impractical, will be natural operators for the Quatro. The vehicle's ability to carry van-level payloads with zero emissions and at a fraction of the cost is seen as a game-changer for these fleets.

In addition to urban delivery, Fulpra US is exploring the use of the Quatro in waterborne middle-mile service. The company is collaborating with the U.S. Coastal Service to shift cargo deliveries from trucks and vans to fuel-efficient vessels for the middle mile and Fulpra Quatros for the last mile. This approach aims to reduce emissions and improve the efficiency of urban delivery.

Empire Clean Cities, a nonprofit organization focused on sustainable freight solutions, is also supporting the adoption of the Quatro. The organization's Sustainable Last-Mile Delivery in Dense Metros project is demonstrating how moving goods by water and completing the last mile with electric cargo vehicles can provide a practical alternative to conventional truck trips.

Fulpra US plans to expand its sales and service footprint beyond New York to other U.S. cities where the van math is breaking first. The company is also developing a lease program to allow fleets to switch to the Quatro without a significant capital outlay and is growing its factory-certified service team to support every vehicle.

The Fulpra Quatro represents a significant step forward in the urban delivery landscape, offering a zero-emission, cost-effective, and versatile solution for urban fleets. As cities continue to reprice their van routes, the Quatro is poised to become a key player in the transition to more sustainable urban logistics.
