Fujitsu Launches Made-in-Japan Next-Generation AI CPU and Server

Fujitsu Limited has unveiled its next-generation CPU, the FUJITSU-MONAKA, and the Fujitsu MONAKA Server, both developed and manufactured in Japan. The company will begin global sales of the CPU starting in November 2026, making it available to cloud and data center operators and server vendors. The Fujitsu MONAKA Server, equipped with the new CPU, will also be made available from November 2026, targeting data center operators, enterprises, and the academic and high-performance computing (HPC) sectors in Japan and Europe.

The FUJITSU-MONAKA CPU is a 2nm, 3D-stacked processor that leverages Fujitsu's extensive expertise in processor and server development. It boasts a maximum operating frequency of 3.8GHz and a memory transfer speed of 8800MT/s, delivering twice the AI inference throughput compared to other CPUs. This makes it significantly more power-efficient, effectively halving the number of servers and power consumption required for equivalent processing loads.

The Fujitsu MONAKA Server, powered by the FUJITSU-MONAKA CPU, is designed to enhance sovereign capabilities through domestic manufacturing. This contributes to traceability and supply chain transparency, which are crucial for national security. The server's space-saving and power-efficient design allows for deployment in air-cooled data centers, significantly increasing customers' capacity for AI infrastructure expansion. Additionally, the Fujitsu MONAKA Server supports future scalability through resource pooling technology and reduces cooling energy consumption with Fujitsu's long-cultivated cooling technologies.

The development of the FUJITSU-MONAKA CPU and the Fujitsu MONAKA Server is based on results obtained from a project subsidized by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
