Forge Nano and Nanexa Partner to Advance Manufacturing for PharmaShell® Long-Acting Injectable Medicines

DENVER and UPPSALA, Sweden, Sept. 22, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Forge Nano and Nanexa have entered into a joint development agreement aimed at advancing the manufacturing capabilities for Nanexa’s PharmaShell® long-acting injectable medicines. The collaboration will focus on developing large-scale, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-compliant Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) manufacturing equipment to support the clinical development and potential future commercial-scale production of Nanexa’s proprietary and partnered PharmaShell® programs.

Forge Nano, a U.S.-based semiconductor equipment and advanced materials company, is leveraging its expertise in ALD technology to support this initiative. The agreement builds on the existing relationship between the two companies and is designed to create a pathway towards increased manufacturing capacity as Nanexa’s PharmaShell® programs progress through development. This includes Nanexa’s internal product portfolio, its license agreement with Moderna, and other undisclosed collaborations with pharmaceutical companies.

Nanexa’s PharmaShell® technology is designed to enable long-acting formulations through precisely engineered nanoscale coatings using ALD technology. The platform can be applied to a broad range of active pharmaceutical ingredients, including small molecules and biologics, across multiple therapeutic areas. The collaboration combines Nanexa’s expertise in drug delivery and pharmaceutical development with Forge Nano’s capabilities in industrial ALD process development and equipment engineering. The broad potential of the platform is further illustrated by NEX-22, Nanexa’s proprietary GLP-1 program, where preclinical and clinical proof of concept have demonstrated the feasibility of achieving a once-monthly depot formulation.

The agreement is intended to support the development of scalable pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities for Nanexa’s PharmaShell® drug delivery platform and its portfolio of proprietary and partnered programs. The infrastructure and process know-how gained through the collaboration will be applicable to multiple PharmaShell®-enabled therapeutic programs. Any future commercialization of PharmaShell®-enabled products remains subject to successful development, regulatory approvals, and other factors.
