Forest Theater Reopens After 50-Year Closure
On Sunday, November 1, the historic Forest Theater in South Dallas will reopen its doors after a 50-year hiatus, marking a significant milestone for the neighborhood and the city as a whole. The Grand Return, which begins at 5:30 p.m., promises to be a community-wide celebration, featuring live entertainment, local vendors, and a ceremonial relighting of the theater’s iconic tower and marquee.

On Nov. 1, after more than 50 years, we will light the tower again and invite the entire city through these doors to experience what comes next."

Since opening in 1949, the Forest Theater has been a cultural cornerstone, hosting legendary performers like Prince, B.B. King, and Gladys Knight.
