Flysound, an AI hearing aid company, has launched its B02 Open-Fit AI Hearing Aid in the United States. The device, designed to cater to those unable or unwilling to wear in-ear devices, aims to make hearing support more accessible.

According to Jory Peng, Flysound’s founder, traditional hearing aids have long been designed around the ear canal. However, at least 15% to 20% of people with hearing loss cannot wear in-ear hearing aids due to medical or anatomical conditions. Many others face issues such as ear blockage, a plugged-ear sensation, moisture buildup, or discomfort during long hours of wear. The B02 is intended to address these challenges.

The B02 features an open-fit, ear-clip design, which improves comfort for users. However, this design introduces a significant engineering challenge: the reduced physical separation between the microphone and receiver can cause feedback whistling. To overcome this, Flysound has developed a proprietary AI acoustic architecture. The B02 uses a 12nm AI chip to continuously detect and suppress sound patterns that may trigger feedback. This allows the hearing aid to operate at gains of up to 50 dB while maintaining feedback control.

Additional features of the B02 include AI-powered low-frequency noise reduction, impulse noise suppression, and real-time feedback cancellation. These technologies work together to enhance the listening experience in everyday environments. The device also features an internal noise-reduction algorithm that keeps the device's internal noise below 10 dB, ensuring a more natural listening experience.

The B02 is equipped with a dual anti-loss solution, combining a screw-secured retention cord with outdoor location tracking through the Flysound App. It also boasts an IP55 water-resistance rating, supported by nano-coating technology, and offers up to 12 hours of use on a single charge, with more than 60 hours available with the charging case. The hearing aid supports Bluetooth calling, music streaming, and short-form video audio while maintaining awareness of surrounding sounds.

Flysound’s B02 is now available for purchase at Flysound’s website with a 50-day risk-free trial and a one-year warranty. The company aims to simplify the hearing-aid fitting process through the Flysound App, which allows users to complete a pure-tone hearing test at home and receive personalized settings based on their results. Professional hearing-care specialists are available for optional one-on-one remote fitting and fine-tuning across the critical 125 Hz to 7,500 Hz range used for speech recognition.

The launch of the B02 represents a significant advancement in the hearing care market, addressing the long-standing gap for users who cannot wear in-ear devices. Flysound’s commitment to developing AI-powered hearing solutions that combine advanced acoustic algorithms, personalized fitting, and user-centered design underscores its mission to make AI hearing aids more accessible and affordable.
