BROOKLYN, N.Y. and SPOKANE, Wash., Sept. 29, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Flying Pig GSE LLC and HEVO Inc. have joined forces to advance wireless charging for next-generation ground support equipment (GSE) at airports. The collaboration aims to integrate HEVO's Rezonant™ wireless charging technology with Flying Pig GSE's extensive aviation industry experience to improve charging infrastructure for electric and autonomous airport operations.
HEVO, a New York-based company specializing in wireless charging hardware and software, will work alongside Flying Pig GSE, an aviation GSE company focused on electrification and advanced airport technologies. The partnership will leverage HEVO's Rezonant™ hardware and Journey™ software platform with Flying Pig GSE's operational expertise to identify and develop applications where automated charging can enhance fleet utilization, simplify charging processes, and support increasingly autonomous airport environments.
Airports present a compelling use case for wireless charging due to the predictable operational patterns of ground support vehicles. These vehicles frequently return to gates, staging areas, loading zones, and other predictable locations, making it feasible to strategically place wireless charging infrastructure. This approach could allow electric GSE to receive energy during natural dwell periods without requiring manual connection and disconnection of charging cables.
Automated wireless charging could also influence future vehicle design. More frequent charging opportunities might enable certain GSE applications to operate with smaller onboard batteries, depending on vehicle duty cycles and operational requirements. This could potentially reduce vehicle weight and cost while improving energy efficiency and asset utilization.
For autonomous GSE, automated charging becomes even more critical. A vehicle capable of operating without a driver still needs an automated way to replenish its energy. Integrating wireless charging with vehicle controls and intelligent energy management creates a pathway for equipment to charge as part of its normal operating cycle with minimal human intervention.
The companies intend to pursue customer engagements, application development, system integration, demonstrations, and pilot opportunities across the Ground Support Equipment market. The collaboration will initially emphasize opportunities where HEVO's automated wireless charging technology can provide measurable operational or economic benefits to airports, fleet operators, and GSE manufacturers. The long-term goal is to transition from plug-in charging to increasingly automated and ultimately "invisible" charging, making charging something that operators or autonomous vehicles do not need to think about.
