LOS ANGELES, Sept. 21, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Fluxnium Inc., a pioneer in extracting uranium from seawater, has secured a $7 million seed round to advance its innovative technology. The funding, led by Congruent Ventures, a climate-focused early-stage investment firm, and supported by Constellation Technology Ventures and Active Impact Investments, will propel Fluxnium's mission to develop a sustainable and secure domestic uranium supply.

The company's groundbreaking technology, developed in collaboration with a leading U.S. national laboratory, uses high-surface-area fibers to adsorb uranium from seawater. This approach addresses the challenge of uranium's low concentration in seawater, offering a viable alternative to traditional mining methods.

Fluxnium's technology operates on longline systems in open water, utilizing the same passive marine infrastructure used by offshore aquaculture. The process involves deploying the proprietary fibers, allowing them to adsorb uranium as seawater passes by. Once the fibers are saturated, they are retrieved, processed, and redeployed. This method not only reduces the environmental impact of uranium mining but also offers a scalable solution to meet growing nuclear power demands.

The firm, founded in 2017 and managing over $1 billion in assets across three early-stage funds, has backed 60+ companies to date.

Constellation Technology Ventures, the venture investing organization within Constellation, the United States' largest producer of clean, carbon-free energy, also sees potential in Fluxnium's technology.

Active Impact Investments, Canada's largest climate technology seed fund, further underscores the importance of this development.

Fluxnium's approach not only addresses the immediate need for a secure and sustainable uranium supply but also aligns with broader environmental goals. The company's mission is to make the ocean the lowest-cost source of uranium in the world, reducing the reliance on traditional mining methods that come with significant environmental and social challenges. By leveraging the vast uranium resources in seawater, Fluxnium aims to contribute to a more resilient and sustainable nuclear energy sector.
