FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 27, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Florida is expanding its partnership with Handtevy to make its mobile emergency care platform, Handtevy Mobile, available statewide to hospital emergency departments and EMS agencies. This expansion builds on the program's success in rural communities, aiming to improve patient care and reduce variability that could put patients at risk, especially children.

The Florida Department of Health is providing the necessary funding to make Handtevy Mobile available to eligible organizations at no cost. The statewide initiative includes the integration of ScanSafe™, Handtevy's emergency barcode medication verification technology. This technology allows clinicians to scan a medication at the point of care and confirm the drug and concentration against patient-specific information in Handtevy Mobile, even before an order exists in the electronic health record (EHR).

Handtevy Mobile provides clinicians with immediate access to their organization's approved protocols or guidelines and patient-specific medication information for adult and pediatric patients in high-pressure environments. The platform is configured to each organization's own medical-director-approved protocols, formulary, and equipment, ensuring that clinicians have the right information at the moment they need it.

The expansion is timely, coming as Florida's Health Care Patient Protection Act (CS/HB 355), effective July 1, 2026, requires every hospital emergency department to meet new pediatric readiness standards, including weight-based medication dosing policies and staff training. According to the Florida House bill analysis, only 18 of the state's roughly 350 hospitals were previously recognized as pediatric-ready.

Handtevy's impact is backed by peer-reviewed research. A study published in Prehospital Emergency Care (Dorsett et al., 2026) found 97% pediatric dosing accuracy among clinicians using Handtevy, the highest rate reported in the prehospital literature to date.

Interested organizations are encouraged to apply early at Handtevy.com for the state-funded program. Handtevy will host a live webinar for Florida hospital emergency departments on October 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET, where Dr. Antevy will explain the new state requirements for hospital emergency departments and outline how eligible hospitals can enroll in the state-funded program.

Handtevy is a Clinical Intelligence platform for emergency care, giving EMS and hospital emergency department clinicians immediate access to patient-specific medication information, organizational protocols, medication safety tools, and training at the point of care. Co-founded by Peter Antevy, MD, FAEMS, and Allison Antevy, Handtevy is used by thousands of EMS agencies, more than 100 hospitals, and over 200,000 clinicians across the United States.
