Field Orthopaedics Launches OCTOPi™ Integrated Fixation Construct System for Hand and Wrist Surgery

Field Orthopaedics, a medical device company based in Houston, Texas, has introduced the OCTOPi™ integrated fixation construct system, designed specifically for hand and wrist surgeries. The new system, available in three sizes, 1.4mm, 1.7mm, and 2.4mm, offers surgeons a versatile and efficient solution for a range of injuries, including scapholunate, thumb UCL, distal biceps, and tendon repairs.

The OCTOPi™ system is built around three modular constructs: OCTOBridge™, OCTOExtend™, and OCTOAnchor™. OCTOBridge™ is a pre-configured, ready-to-implant construct that arrives as a single, interconnected double-fixation product. Surgeons can set each point of fixation, perform the final reduction and tensioning, and use needles for capsule closure or soft-tissue repair. This reduces the number of steps required during surgery.

OCTOExtend™ allows for the extension of an OCTOBridge™ construct to additional points of fixation, adapting the repair to variable injury patterns without the need to switch systems. OCTOAnchor™ provides single, standalone fixation options for repairs that require a single anchor point. All OCTOAnchors™ are double-loaded with needles and suture, sized specifically for a variety of hand and wrist procedures.

The OCTOPi™ system was developed in close collaboration with hand surgeons to address the unique demands of hand and wrist surgery. The company believes that the pre-configured nature of OCTOBridge™ can enhance operating room efficiency and offer greater intraoperative flexibility. According to Patryk Kania, CEO and Managing Director of Field Orthopaedics, the system represents a significant shift in how surgeons can approach complex repairs such as scapholunate and thumb UCL injuries.

"Today, if you want a bridging construct between two anchors, you're often building it yourself, tying anchors together on the back table or in the joint or reaching for a larger anchor to get the construct you need. OCTOBridge™ comes out of the box already connected, so we simply place both anchors and tension between them. It's a meaningful shift in how we can approach these repairs."

The OCTOPi™ Integrated All-Suture Construct System will be available to hand surgeons in the United States starting September 17, 2026. Field Orthopaedics, headquartered in Houston, Texas, with R&D operations in Brisbane, Australia, develops purpose-built products for complex fracture management, arthritis, and microsurgery of the hand and wrist.
