EVDANCE Introduces Extension Cables to Bridge EV Charging Gaps

This gap refers to the physical mismatch between where charging equipment is installed and where an EV can actually park, often leaving drivers with a functioning charger they cannot physically reach.

In a recent demonstration, Walter showcased an EVDANCE EV Extension Cable in both residential and travel scenarios. In one test, a Rivian R1S was parked in a driveway while a Tesla Wall Connector was positioned inside the garage. The original cable could not reach the vehicle; the EVDANCE extension provided the additional distance required.

Walter also examined a hotel charging scenario where available destination charging spaces were not usable as intended, illustrating how additional cable reach can provide another option when parking conditions change. His video, titled "Extend Your Charging Range: How This EV Extension Cable Simplified My Life," demonstrated the practical benefits of the EVDANCE extension cables.

For high-current charging, the extension cables are not ordinary household extension cords. They are designed to handle the continuous load of EV charging over extended periods. EVDANCE offers models with specific electrical ratings, including configurations supporting up to 50 amps at 240 volts and up to 12 kW, depending on the model. These models use heavy-duty copper conductors and feature cable construction designed for sustained EV charging loads.

The lineup includes NACS and J1772 configurations and models with IP66-rated protection for dust and water resistance. Current limits remain model-specific, with the 30-foot cable demonstrated by Walter rated for a maximum of 40 amps. Drivers should follow specific cable rating, EVSE, and vehicle requirements, circuit design, installation instructions, and applicable electrical codes.
