EuroHoldings Secures Charter Contract Extensions for Feeder Containerships
ATHENS, Greece, Sept. 01, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- EuroHoldings Ltd., the owner and operator of container carriers and tanker vessels, has secured significant charter contract extensions for two of its feeder containerships, signaling a strong performance in the containership charter market. The company announced the extensions for the M/V Joanna and M/V Aegean Express, effective from December 2, 2026, and January 1, 2027, respectively.
The M/V Joanna, a 1,732 TEU feeder containership, will be chartered for a minimum of 30 months, with the option to extend for up to an additional 20 days at the charterer's discretion. The gross daily rate for this vessel is set at $24,000. Similarly, the M/V Aegean Express, a 1,439 TEU feeder containership, will be chartered for a minimum of 24 months, with a maximum of 26 months, also at the charterer's option. The daily rate for this vessel is $20,500.
Aristides Pittas, Chairman and CEO of EuroHoldings, expressed satisfaction with the extensions, stating, "These contracts are a clear indication of the robustness of the containership charter market, even for older vessels. The higher rates reflect the strong demand and limited availability of suitable vessels in the market."
Pittas further elaborated on the financial impact and strategic benefits of these extensions. "The combined charters are expected to generate approximately $24 million in EBITDA over the minimum contracted period. This will significantly bolster our liquidity, improve our balance sheet, and position us for future growth. Our charter coverage for 2026, 2027, and 2028 is expected to be 79%, 48%, and 47%, respectively," he noted.
EuroHoldings operates a fleet of two feeder container carriers with a total carrying capacity of 3,171 TEU and two medium range (MR) product tankers with a capacity of 99,994 dwt, pending the delivery of the M/V Hellas Fighter. The company’s operations and container vessels are managed by Eurobulk Ltd., an ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certified affiliate, while its product tanker is managed by Latsco Marine Management Inc., an ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 50001:2018, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, and ISO 45001:2018 certified affiliate.
The extensions for the M/V Joanna and M/V Aegean Express underscore EuroHoldings’ commitment to maintaining a robust fleet and capitalizing on favorable market conditions. The company’s strategic focus on container and tanker seaborne transportation services remains unchanged, with a view toward further growth and improved financial performance.
