EPIC Players Unveils Cast for 10th Anniversary Production of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
EPIC Players, a nonprofit theater company dedicated to providing professional opportunities for Neurodivergent and Disabled artists, has unveiled the cast and creative team for its upcoming 10th anniversary production of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time." The play, running from November 20 to December 6 at ART/NY Mezzanine Theatre, features a lineup of Neurodivergent and Disabled actors and marks a significant milestone for the company.
The production, co-directed by Aubrie Therrien and Meggan Dodd, centers on Dominick Mastrodonato, who makes his New York City theater debut as the protagonist, Christopher, a 15-year-old boy navigating an investigation into the mysterious death of a neighbor's dog. Mastrodonato's performance is part of a cast that includes Clay Hedden, Carly Hayes, Travis John Martin, Jocelyn Ellen Stout, Florence Taylor, and Samantha Elisofon, among others.
"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," based on Mark Haddon's novel and adapted by Simon Stephens, explores Christopher's journey of self-discovery and the impact of his investigation on his family and community. The production places the audience on all four sides of the stage, allowing for an immersive experience and placing the artists' perspectives at the forefront.
"Ten years ago, we set out to prove that Neurodivergent and Disabled artists belong center stage," said Aubrie Therrien, Executive Artistic Director of EPIC Players. "This production gives our company the opportunity to bring its own lived experiences and unique artistic vision to a story that has resonated with audiences worldwide."
The production team includes Talia Eapen as Director of Operations, Michael Swain-Smith as Stage Manager, and Carol Hoverman and Sami Binder as Assistant Stage Managers. Christian Fleming, Cameron Filepas, and Izzy Kitch contribute as scenic, lighting, and costume designers, respectively. The production also features ensemble actors Jordan Boyatt, Gerard Riley, Ben Rosloff, Tess Lancaster, Ky J Farrell, Miles Butler, Mark Shock, Zach Lichterman, and Yana Birukova as Media Designer.
EPIC Players, founded in 2016, has long been committed to creating professional opportunities for Neurodivergent and Disabled performers. Over the past decade, the company has produced more than 100 mainstage productions, cabarets, and career-development events, serving over 250 artists nationwide. Past productions include "RENT," "Spring Awakening," and "Into the Woods," and EPIC Players members have appeared on Broadway in shows such as "How to Dance in Ohio."
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will be staged at ART/NY Mezzanine Theatre, 502 West 53rd Street, New York, NY 10019, from November 20 to December 6, 2026, with an invited preview on November 19. Tickets, ranging from $35 to $75, are available for purchase at epicplayersnyc.org.
