SEATTLE, WA, UNITED STATES, October 15, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The End Brain Cancer Initiative (EBCI), a 501(c)3 non-profit patient advocacy organization, has partnered with Nuvation Bio, a global oncology company, to provide patient education about the SIGMA Phase 3 study for Grade 2 or 3 glioma brain cancer. The initiative aims to enhance awareness and understanding among patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers regarding the latest advancements in the treatment of glioma brain cancer.
Nuvation Bio, founded in 2018 by biopharma industry veteran David Hung, M.D., is focused on developing therapies that significantly impact patients' lives. The company's pipeline includes safusidenib, an investigational IDH1 inhibitor, and other innovative drug-drug conjugate (DDC) programs. The partnership with EBCI is part of Nuvation Bio's commitment to improving patient access to advanced diagnostics and treatments.
The SIGMA Phase 3 study is evaluating the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetic (PK) characteristics of safusidenib in participants with recurrent or progressive IDH1-mutant WHO Grade 2 or Grade 3 glioma. Part 1 of the study, which aimed to assess the initial efficacy, safety, and PK characteristics of safusidenib, is no longer enrolling participants. However, Part 2 of the study is currently enrolling patients with high-risk features of IDH1-mutant Grade 2 or Grade 3 astrocytoma or IDH1-mutant Grade 4 astrocytoma, following standard-of-care radiation or chemoradiation and adjuvant temozolomide. This part of the study is randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled.
Additionally, Part 3 of the SIGMA study is now enrolling participants with residual or recurrent IDH1-mutant Grade 3 oligodendroglioma who have received surgery as their only treatment. This part will be an open-label single-arm cohort.
