EnBW Deploys XCharge C7 480 kW Fast Chargers Nationwide

HAMBURG, Germany, Sept. 21, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- EnBW, Germany’s largest fast-charging network operator, has launched the new XCharge C7 high-power charger within its nationwide fast-charging network. The C7 chargers, capable of delivering up to 480 kW of charging power, are now in operation at EnBW's flagship charging site at its headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany, and at the EnBW fast-charging hub in Nettetal near the Dutch border.

The deployment follows a long-term partnership announced by EnBW and XCharge in February 2026. The agreement was based on a successful field test in which XCharge charging stations demonstrated their reliability, performance, and safety across tens of thousands of charging sessions. This partnership marks a significant step in the advancement of electric mobility in Germany.

EnBW already operates more than 9,000 fast charging points across Germany, and it continues to expand its network in line with demand across three key segments: long-distance travel, urban areas, and retail locations. Charging infrastructure requirements vary depending on the location. The new 480 kW charging technology will primarily be deployed at locations where customers typically spend only a short time and want to add as much driving range as possible during their stop, for example, at EnBW fast-charging parks along Germany's major highways.

The new 480 kW charging technology can deliver up to 640 km of driving range in just 20 minutes. EV drivers also benefit from the higher charging capacity through dynamic power allocation when two vehicles charge simultaneously at the same station. Depending on each vehicle's charging capabilities, this can significantly reduce charging times and maximize charging performance.

By the end of 2026, EnBW plans to bring a further double-digit number of fast-charging parks equipped with XCharge's C7 480 kW charging technology online across Germany, marking another step in the continued expansion of one of Europe's largest fast-charging networks.

This deployment is part of EnBW's broader strategy to support the growing demand for electric vehicles and to enhance the charging experience for its customers. The new technology is expected to play a crucial role in facilitating long-distance travel and ensuring that EV drivers can rely on fast and efficient charging solutions.
