SINGAPORE, Nov. 5, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- New research from the Employers Institute, conducted in collaboration with Opinion Matters, has uncovered significant challenges in the Singapore workforce. The study, which surveyed more than 10,000 workers across 15 countries, including Singapore, found that 71% of respondents have considered leaving their current roles due to increased workloads. This finding highlights the mounting pressures faced by organizations in Singapore, as they navigate the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation into their operations.

The research, conducted between August 11 and September 3, 2026, included 519 Singapore respondents.

Key findings from the Singapore survey include: - 77% of respondents reported an increase in staff shortages over the past year. - 71% have considered leaving their jobs due to increased workloads. - 86% are satisfied with their current jobs. - 54% are considering leaving or actively looking for another opportunity, comprising those actively job-seeking (14%) or considering leaving due to better opportunities elsewhere (15%), restructuring or job cuts (15%), or concerns about AI and automation (10%). - 72% feel confident developing skills for future roles, while 72% believe their employer would provide opportunities to move between hands-on and office-based work.

These findings suggest that job satisfaction does not necessarily translate into long-term career security. Employees may value their current roles while remaining concerned about future opportunities, organizational changes, or technological disruption.

The report recommends three key priorities for organizations: - Creating conditions for adaptation, including manageable workloads and supportive managers. - Building employability by providing opportunities for skill development and career mobility. - Enabling mobility through clearer career pathways across traditional blue- and white-collar boundaries.

These recommendations aim to help organizations better prepare their workforce for the challenges and opportunities of the future, ensuring that employees remain engaged and committed to their roles despite the evolving landscape of work.
