Written by Emmy Award winner Kurt Metzger, along with Keith Wahrer and Keri Garcia, "The Experts" is directed by Bryan Callen, known for his roles in films such as "The Hangover" and "The Goldbergs," and his own stand-up specials, most recently "False Gods" (2025). The pilot features an ensemble cast that includes Callen, Metzger, Jimmy Dore, Ryan Long, Alexandra Chando, and others.
"The Experts" follows the story of an outlandish group of political operatives called BLIP. The team is described as cocky and barely qualified, armed with strange talking points, dirty tactics, and an unshakable faith in their own expertise. Their antics reveal that most political experts are just slapstick agents who wish they were 1960s CIA spies. The show takes aim at the War on Drugs, focusing on a character inspired by real-life Mississippi mom Christina Dent. Carolyn Dean, a churchgoing Christian mom, is the latest target of BLIP's efforts to discredit her and kill a bill to decriminalize marijuana in Texas.
