SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Oct. 2, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Emboline, Inc., a medical technology company based in Santa Cruz, California, has marked a significant milestone in the U.S. by commercializing its Emboliner® Embolic Protection System. The system, which received FDA 510(k) clearance in September 2026, was first used on October 1, 2026, during two transcatheter aortic valve implantation procedures performed by Dr. Tamim Nazif, Co-Director of the Structural Heart and Valve Center at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

The Emboliner is designed to provide full-body embolic protection by capturing and removing debris generated during transcatheter structural heart procedures. Specifically, it is currently indicated for use during transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). According to Scott Russell, President and CEO of Emboline, the first commercial use of the Emboliner represents a defining milestone for the company.

Dr. Nazif, who led the PROTECT H2H clinical trial, expressed enthusiasm about the new technology.

Emboline is commencing a controlled U.S. commercial launch focused initially on leading structural heart centers. The company's lead product, the Emboliner® Embolic Protection System, is designed to provide full cerebral and systemic embolic protection by capturing and removing debris that may be released during transcatheter interventions and could otherwise travel to the brain and other vital organs.

The Emboliner is the result of intellectual property invented by Amir Belson, MD, a serial medical device entrepreneur. Belson's background includes founding several companies in the medical device industry, including NeoGuide Systems, Vascular Pathways, and ZipLine Medical.

The first commercial use of the Emboliner in the U.S. underscores the company's commitment to reducing embolic complications during transcatheter cardiovascular procedures. With the system now commercially available, Emboline is poised to offer a new solution to the challenges faced by patients and healthcare providers in the field of structural heart interventions.
