GAITHERSBURG, Md., Oct. 01, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Elutia Inc., a pioneer in drug-eluting biomatrix technologies, has received a full $8 million payment from Boston Scientific Corporation, marking a significant milestone in the company's journey to fully fund its operations through the first year of the expected NXT-41x launch and into 2029. This payment, made following an indemnity holdback period that began with the October 1, 2025 closing of the $88 million transaction, is the third of three funding milestones Elutia outlined in its second quarter earnings release. These milestones have now been delivered, following the August closings of its Avenue Capital loan facility and SimpliDerm® divestiture.
The $8 million payment from Boston Scientific represents a substantial boost to Elutia’s financial stability, allowing the company to continue its development and commercialization efforts for NXT-41x, its next-generation antibiotic-eluting surgical matrix. NXT-41x is specifically designed for use in the $1.5 billion U.S. plastic and reconstructive surgery market, where complex procedures can carry post-operative infection rates as high as 20%. In an independent blinded survey conducted in August 2026, 86% of board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeons reported that the matrices they currently use increase infection risk, while 96% expressed interest in incorporating NXT-41x into their practice.
The regulatory process remains on track, with the company expecting a favorable FDA clearance decision for NXT-41x in the first half of 2027. With the payment in full and no claims, Elutia is now focused on leveraging its robust balance sheet to advance its pipeline, particularly in the plastic and reconstructive surgery market, where surgical infection rates can reach 20%.
