Eli Lilly to Present New Data on Obesity and Diabetes Treatments at EASD 2026

Eli Lilly and Company, a leader in the pharmaceutical industry, is set to present new data on its latest research and development efforts at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in Milan, Italy, from September 28 to October 2, 2026. The presentations will focus on the company's investigational triple hormone receptor agonist, retatrutide, and its latest triple-acting medicine, eloraTZP, alongside its existing products, Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Foundayo (orforglipron).
Retatrutide, an investigational once-weekly GIP, GLP-1, and glucagon triple receptor agonist, will be the subject of a symposium on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. CEST. According to the company, the Phase 3 results from the TRIUMPH-2 trial showed that retatrutide delivered substantial weight loss and A1C improvements in adults with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes. Participants taking retatrutide lost up to an average of 49.6 pounds (22.5 kg; 20.8%) and lowered their A1C by up to an average of 1.6% at 80 weeks.
Mounjaro (tirzepatide), the company's existing product, will also be the focus of a symposium on the same day. The symposium will present results from the SURPASS-CVOT, which demonstrated that Mounjaro was non-inferior to Trulicity with an 8% lower risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE-3) in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. Additionally, Mounjaro provided greater reductions in A1C and weight.
Lilly will also unveil Phase 2 data for eloraTZP, a combination of the selective amylin receptor agonist eloralintide and the GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist tirzepatide, in a symposium on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. CEST. The Phase 2 results showed that adding eloralintide 3 mg to tirzepatide 5 mg led to 17% weight loss over 16 weeks compared to 10% with tirzepatide 5 mg alone in adults with obesity or overweight.
Foundayo (orforglipron), another of Lilly's products, will be the subject of a symposium on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. CEST. The Phase 3 results from the ACHIEVE-4 program will be presented, showing that Foundayo demonstrated non-inferiority versus insulin glargine, with a 16% lower risk of MACE-4 events and a 23% lower risk of MACE-3 events in adults with type 2 diabetes and obesity or overweight at increased cardiovascular risk.
CEST. The symposium, chaired by Prof. Rachel Batterham, will explore the emerging role of oral therapies and the next generation of mechanisms that could redefine patient care.
