Einride and EASE Launch Driverless Electric Trucks on Ohio Roads

MARYSVILLE, Ohio and STOCKHOLM, Oct. 06, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Einride and EASE Logistics have begun daily operations with driverless electric trucks on Ohio roads, marking a significant milestone in the Truck Automation Corridor Project. This project, a joint effort between the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), DriveOhio, and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), aims to prepare major interstate routes for the integration of autonomous freight.

Two cab-less, driverless electric trucks from Einride are now running scheduled routes on EASE property and local public roads, carrying freight between EASE facilities. These trucks operate without anyone in the cab, relying on remote oversight. A remote operator monitors each truck off-site and can step in if needed. The deployment began last month and is generating operational data on safety, reliability, and efficiency, which will inform future expansion of autonomous freight operations.

The project's stated goals are to improve safety, reduce fuel consumption and emissions, increase efficiency, and build fleets' comfort and experience with automation.

The operational data from daily service, including miles driven, loads moved, and uptime, will guide the next phase of the deployment and inform broader conversations with ODOT, INDOT, and prospective logistics partners about scaling autonomous freight across the region.
