DSC Foundation honors Steve Hornady and recognizes new donors at gala

DALLAS, Sept. 3, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- At the recent Dallas Safari Club Summer Expo & Foundation Gala, the DSC Foundation (DSCF) hosted its annual fundraising event at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas. The gala attracted attendees from around the globe, highlighting the growing international reach of both the Dallas Safari Club and the DSC Foundation in the realms of wildlife conservation, education, and advocacy.

During the event, DSCF honored Steve Hornady, President of Hornady Manufacturing Company, with the 2026 DSCF Legacy Award. The award recognized Hornady's decades of leadership in the shooting sports and conservation communities.

The evening also saw the induction of new members into the Askari Circle, an exclusive group for donors who have contributed $100,000 or more to the DSC Foundation's mission. This recognition underscores the foundation's commitment to fostering deep, long-term relationships with its supporters.

Funds raised through DSCF support a wide array of global conservation and education initiatives. Through targeted grantmaking, the organization translates donor support into tangible conservation successes worldwide. Recent grant recipients include:

- The Tanzania Lion Illumination Project, which has installed predator-deterrent lighting on livestock enclosures in Tanzania and Uganda, protecting 750 bomas. - The Eco Defense Group, which provides ranger protection for the threatened rhino population in Kruger National Park through poacher patrols and arrests. - The Wild Sheep Society of British Columbia, which advanced prescribed-fire habitat treatments for Stone's sheep, restoring 900 acres in the spring of 2025 and completing a four-year program covering about 2,500 acres. - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department, which received $20,000 to study the impact of wind energy development on mule deer winter ranges, including the purchase of 25 GPS collars for adult does. - Travels and Expeditions (Black Bears in Japan), which funds efforts to establish an international hunting and conservation association working with Japanese officials on science-based wildlife management.

DSCF was established in 2015 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and supports the mission and vision of the Dallas Safari Club as its charitable arm. The organization promotes global conservation of wildlife and its habitats through education, public engagement, and direct financial support to organizations working toward these objectives.
