District Copper Expands Land Holdings in Northern Guichon Creek Batholith

District Copper Corp has expanded its land holdings in the northern Guichon Creek batholith by acquiring the final claim block between its Copper Keg project and Teck Resources' Highland Valley Copper operation. The acquisition, made through an agreement with $2,500 in cash and 375,000 common shares, secures the last remaining mineral claim in the area, ensuring a continuous and consolidated land position.

The 368.4-hectare property, known as mineral claim 1137534, is situated adjacent to the Copper Keg project area and is underlain by Kamloops Group volcanics. The claim covers several magnetometer highs identified in District Copper's existing airborne magnetic dataset, which will be incorporated into the company's ongoing exploration model. The claim will be further explored using a DCIP geophysical survey, scheduled to commence at the end of September 2026, to help define drill targets for the property's first-ever diamond drill program.

District Copper's CEO, Jevin Werbes, commented on the strategic importance of the acquisition. "This acquisition secures a critical piece of ground. It is the last remaining mineral claim between Copper Keg and Teck's Highland Valley Copper operation. When we see increased staking activity by third parties across the northern batholith, consolidating the integrity of our land package becomes a strategic priority," Werbes stated.

The acquisition comes at a time of heightened staking and exploration activity in the area. Teck Resources, the operator of the Highland Valley Copper mine, has recently acquired eight mineral claims totaling approximately 12,139 hectares in the area directly surrounding and adjacent to the Copper Keg project. This activity underscores the growing interest in the region, which hosts every major porphyry copper deposit in the Highland Valley district.

The Copper Keg project, located at the northern end of the Guichon Creek batholith, benefits from excellent infrastructure, including power, gas, and rail access. The project has a rich history dating back to the late 1800s, with early exploration revealing a "spectacular gossan" several kilometres long. Despite this early recognition, subsequent exploration was limited, and the property has never been tested by modern diamond drilling.

District Copper has conducted four years of systematic exploration between 2021 and 2025, including DCIP geophysics, high-sensitivity airborne magnetics and radiometrics, soil and rock geochemistry, detailed geological mapping, and petrographic and whole rock geochemical studies. A comprehensive review of the full data package was presented in the company's news release dated August 19, 2026, the first integrated geological model relating these datasets to one another and explaining the rationale for the current DCIP survey design.

The company's DCIP geophysical survey, conducted by Quantec Geoscience using its Titan DCIP system, is scheduled to commence at the end of September 2026. The survey is designed to delineate drill targets for the property's first-ever diamond drill program. The acquisition of the final claim block is expected to enhance the company's exploration efforts and strengthen its position in the region.

The resurgence of activity in the Highland Valley district is driven by the potential for a buried porphyry copper system at depth. Getty Copper Inc., whose Getty project is located in the Highland Valley district directly between Copper Keg and Teck's operation, recently reported initial drill results from Getty South, including 68.5 meters of 0.81% copper from 39.5 meters depth and 184 meters of 0.37% copper, with mineralization extended 72 meters below historical intercepts and remaining open within a broader IP geophysical anomaly.

The acquisition of the final claim block by District Copper is part of a broader strategy to consolidate its land position and advance exploration efforts in the region. The company's next steps will involve integrating the newly acquired claim into its exploration model and moving toward defining drill targets for the upcoming diamond drill program.
